We're hard at work, raising tents, putting out flags, getting ready for the big day. We had special help today from the Passaic Valley Sewerage Commission who sent two TrashCat™ trash skimmers built by United Marine International to clean debris from the Hackensack River.
The front of the craft has vertical conveyor belts that grab debris in the water and pull it toward the slanted conveyor belt which deposits the debris in the container that sits at the back of the boat.
The New Jersey Meadowlands Commission thanks the Passaic Valley Sewerage Commission, Robert DeVita - River Restoration Program Manager and his staff for all their help. The Passaic Valley Sewerage Commissioners' River Restoration Program has received a WAVE award from the Association of Environmental Authorities (AEA) in the Forward Thinking category. This statewide award is presented annually for outstanding achievement in the environmental field. Return to List of News Stories For more information, contact: |
